Posting in this topic since celfron asked me to.
This is Narro's card, so you might ask him. But I'd say damage reduction often happens after the fact (compare (IMG:/html/store/icons/xana/icewallforming0du.png)) so you can use the ab at any time during the turn to cancel all past attacks as well as those for the rest of the turn. However, I argue that since it doesn't mention an attack, you can't use it as a blocking card. Therefore, if you died, you can't use it to "come back" from negative health. P.S. I'm saying this without having looked at the duel in question (I don't know who attacked whom) so don't accuse me of bias-- although feel free to accuse me of being wrong. my line of thinking was that you can only activate/do stuff during your opponents turn at the end. In this case it's more of a question when would data sword's effect activate, as soon as the attack is made, or at end of turn.

I think you can use it at any time during your opponent's turn.

I was saying it was end of turn because there is no mention of being able to do things in the middle of your opponents turn, therfore the only time you could would be at the end when you block, but with the way data sword is worded it sounds like it can happen
as soon as the attack made, since it says used in battle. Plus if you can use things in the middle of your opponents turn, things just become a mess. And if it were as simple as asking narro I would have...but he's not on to ask. |

Well, remember, you don't technically block at the end, you technically block between your opponent's attacks. Yes that can't be literally played on the forum, but that is the game we're playing. Also,

I'll ask narro about it when I can...don't know when that will be.

If you can block, wouldn't you be able to reduce/redirect as well?

amthc, the rules can be rather vague, yes you can reduce/redirect with a cards effect on the field. Quite often "block" or "blocking" is used for all three when really blocking is only one of the three.
